Michael Collins
Sunday 11 March 2012
The Hexagon, Reading: 7.30pm
Ian Brown: Conductor
Michael Collins: Clarinet
Mozart: Clarinet Concerto
Mahler: Symphony No 6
The programme
Two magnificent works fill our spring concert programme.
Mozart's perfectly formed clarinet concerto was ground breaking in its day, being one of the earliest concertos for the clarinet
Mahler's vast 6th symphony was also innovative in its day. Employing a huge orchestra allowed Mahler to take full advantage of all the riches and subtlety of colour the orchestra has to offer. A musical work on this scale is not only a great listening experience but fun to watch as well.
